We want to replicate the Fat Harry’s brand many times and to do this it is essential that you are successful. If you fail, our business plan to open more units and franchise the brand fails.

Fully Trained Employees

For the foreseeable future we will open all our shops as corporate ventures and then offer them to prospective franchisees. We will never offer a franchise opportunity until the shop begins to trade above its breakeven for a period of 4 consecutive weeks. You benefit from having a fully staffed business up and running. We know of no other franchisor that has this strategic commitment to handing over a business in such a ‘ready to trade’ manner. Most sell you their name and a catchment area and off you go. You find the site, hire and train the employees, arrange the shop fit and then worry that it will all pay off. Our concept is different. We will have the site already selected, planning passed where necessary, the shop fitted out to the highest standards, the best equipment installed, the staff hired and trained and most importantly, all the worry and risk eliminated because you won’t be committed to taking it until it achieves breakeven volume. Ongoing Support after you take over.

For your first 21 days we will provide an experienced manager to work along side you full time. That manager will teach you all the operational side of the business. If you wish to keep the manager for an additional period this too can be arranged for an additional fee.


First 21 days Onsite Training and Management

First year Emergency Telephone Support.
You can call us anytime from 8am to 11pm for help and advice in a crisis. If your range develops a fault, the extraction motor has gone down and it is 4 pm on a Friday in August. You can call us and we will know what to do. Included in your fee is the option to call us up to 21 times in the first year for what you consider a crisis. Not what we consider a crisis. 21 calls answered and help, advice and support offered

First Six Months Bi-Monthly Face To Face Meeting
During your first 6 months we will visit you twice a month for a minimum of a one hour face to face meeting to offer advice, provide additional training, check standards, and generally do for you what ever you feel will help improve your business.


What is in it for us?
We will be your landlord and you will pay us rent. From that rent we will make the return on our investment. We have no plans to charge a royalty fee in addition to the rent you pay. Royalty fees will be levied in the future to new franchisees but the first franchisees will not pay a royalty fee for the duration of their initial franchise agreement. (10 years).

Is there Anything else to Pay?

Advertising
Yes all franchisees will be required to contribute to a communal advertising fund. That fund will be spent at the discretion of the franchisees themselves. The advertising fund will require you to commit a figure of no less than 5% of you rent to advertising. Therefore if your rent is £18,000 you will be required to commit at least £900 a year to the communal advertising fund. This fund will perhaps be used to print and distribute leaflets or advertise on the radio or in the paper. The only requirement we have is that it is spent on advertising and promoting your business. Always a sensible thing but one that often gets overlooked.


Is there any product tie in?
Yes. It is essential that all franchisees maintain standards as a failure to do so can have a detrimental effect on other franchisees. In order to do that we will insist that you only buy from a few designated suppliers. Those suppliers will have proved to us that they supply top quality goods and provide excellent service. The important thing is that this product tie in will NOT cost franchisees any money. In fact in the coming years as more shops open and we gain economies of scale, being a franchisee with Fat Harry’s will mean that you get your supplies cheaper than an independent trader. Our business plan includes a central purchasing commissary once we have around 25 units open and trading. 

So What is The Deal?

We are offering a fully equipped, trading and staffed unit. The electrics are all brand new and have a NICEIC certificate. The gas supply has been upgraded to run the new Middleton UltraVision range. All the equipment is brand new including the 42 inch plasma screen which is a new concept in menu board. All the plumbing is new. The shop front is new. Everything is under guarantee. Even the first 5000 leaflets have been printed and distribution has just begun. The Yellow pages ad has been placed. In short, if you take this business on, you are ready to start banking the money.
The Sandown shop is the first of many. In order to attract franchisees to this new concept we are offering this business at very attractive terms.


How is the Sandown Shop Trading?
Well it is early days but we can tell you that we are trading well above breakeven. 
On Friday 11th March the shop was inspected by SeaFish Industry Authority a government set up body, and was awarded the coveted Friers Quality Award. The only chip shop on the island to have it and one of only six in Hampshire. Having the award is a pre-requisite to entering the National Fish & Chip Shop of the Year Competition. This truly is a top quality business opportunity.
